TORONTO, Jan. 6, 2014 /CNW/ - On the heels of a stellar 2012, Global kicks off the New Year right with must-see new series and returning favourites. From the team behind Chicago Fire (returning Jan. 7 at 10 pm ET/PT) comes the sizzling new series Chicago PD, premiering Jan. 8 at 8 pm ET/PT. This action-packed drama follows District 21 of the Chicago Police Department, lead by hard-nosed Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe, Chicago Fire), his team of street cops and members of the Intelligence Unit as they tackle the Windy City's mean streets. Then, it's all about depositions and dysfunction with new series Rake, premiering Jan. 23 at 9 pm ET/PT. The series stars Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine, The Kennedys) as a brilliant lawyer who also happens to be one of life's great addicts.
Anchored by fall's breakout hits, Global's midseason schedule sees the return of The Blacklist and Sleepy Hollow, both airing on Jan. 13 at 9 pm ET/PT and 10 pm ET/PT respectively in addition to newcomer Almost Human, returning on Jan. 6 at 8 pm ET/PT. Viewers can also look forward to upcoming Canadian series Remedy and Working the Engels debuting later this winter. And Global says goodbye to their favourite bomb girls with the two-hour special Bomb Girls - The Movie, airing Feb. 19 at 8 pm ET.
"We had a fantastic fall season and are looking forward to building on that momentum with the addition of two exciting, new series," said Barbara Williams, Senior Vice President, Content, Shaw Media. "Not only is Global home to two of fall's most talked about series The Blacklist and Sleepy Hollow, but Rake and Chicago PD are the perfect compliments to our outstanding lineup of strong performers like NCIS and NCIS:LA, strengthening our schedule even further."
