TORONTO, Jan. 9, 2012 /CNW/ - Global's star-studded original legal thriller, The Firm, had a strong start on Sunday winning its two-hour timeslot in the 2+ national demographic (1.1 million viewers) as well as in the key Adults 18-49 demo. The high-stakes drama beat a new episode of CTV's Desperate Housewives at 9pm by 14% (2+ national) and 8% (A 18-49), and outperformed Pan Am by 66% (2+ national) and 16% (A 18-49) at 10 o'clock.
The Firm's debut episode saw a total reach of 3.5 million Canadian viewers over the 9-11pm time period and ranked third overall as the night's most watched program (2+ national) on a very competitive night.
Based on the 1991 best-selling novel by world-renowned author John Grisham, The Firm continues the story of attorney Mitch McDeere (Josh Lucas "The Lincoln Lawyer," "Sweet Home Alabama") who, as a young associate, brought down the prestigious Memphis law firm of Bendini, Lambert & Locke, which operated as a front for the Chicago mob. After a difficult decade, the series follows McDeere and his family as they emerge from isolation to reclaim their lives and their future - only to find that past dangers are still lurking and new threats are everywhere.
Viewers can tune in for an all-new episode of The Firm during its regular weekly timeslot beginning this Thursday, January 12 - 10pm ET/PT.
