TORONTO, April 21, 2020 /CNW/ - André Picard, the award-winning Globe and Mail health columnist, will discuss the challenges of covering COVID-19 on the next J-Talks Live video webcast hosted by Anna Maria Tremonti. The conversation will take place on Thursday, April 23, 1pm EDT.

In early March, when Canada's COVID-19 cases were just beginning to register, Picard was one of the first calling for strong social distancing measures, with a clear call to "Shut it Down." His discussion with Tremonti will explore how he reports with authority on the pandemic at a time when misinformation abounds.
"André has been a strong and solid journalistic voice on health issues in Canada for a long time," says Tremonti, who is also the host of More, the CBC podcast. "Now, during a pandemic with immediate and long-term consequences, his journalism matters even more.
"We'll discuss the scope and challenges of his reporting, including what it takes to distill fast-moving news into vital information that the public needs and to continue providing clarity as policies shift."
This event is part of the Canadian Journalism Foundation's J-Talks series, which explores pressing journalistic issues. This special series of free 40-minute webcasts focuses on journalism's critical role in the COVID-19 crisis and the issues reporters cover to bring trustworthy news and information to Canadians.
