Go Roaming - Entrust, Radio IP Integration Secures Connection Across Combination of Wired, Wireless IP Networks
Integration between mobile VPN, user authentication delivers secure, seamless mobile connectivity for police, fire, EMS
DALLAS, Aug. 15, 2013 /CNW/ - Entrust Inc. and Radio IP are partnering to integrate industry-leading mobile VPN and user authentication solutions to provide secure, seamless mobile connectivity for police, fire, EMS, transport services and more. A persistent network connection — while moving around cities, states and the country — is critical to the safety and success of mobile workers. The solution is designed to enable organizations to optimize worker productivity, protect critical assets and help ensure compliance.
"Regardless of industry or global location, more organizations require complete solutions to support dispersed workforces," said Entrust President and CEO Bill Conner. "These security-conscious organizations, and their mobile employees, rely upon flexible mobile networking capabilities that deliver data and voice connectivity — whenever and wherever needed — while adhering to corporate security policies."
The integration between the Entrust IdentityGuard software authentication platform and Radio IP's mobile VPN solutions helps provide continuous, authenticated connectivity by automatically and seamlessly reconnecting clients to the network when signal interruptions occur — all without any loss of data.
"To be effective, mobile workforces must have secure and reliable connectivity to applications and files as if they were sitting at their desk without worrying about complex networking issues," said Patrick Tabourin, Vice President, Business Strategy and Product Management, Radio IP. "The growing need for mobility, coupled with required compliance to industry security policies — such as FBI CJIS, HIPAA and PCI DSS — demands a new type of solution designed to overcome the performance, security, connectivity and roaming challenges associated with wireless networks."
Leveraging Radio IP's mobile VPN solutions, authenticated corporate users may move freely between secure and non-secure networks without losing their connection and without jeopardizing corporate security policies. Organizations have a choice of a wide range of authenticators, including grid cards and eGrid cards, knowledge-based questions and answers, mobile software tokens, one-time-passcode (OTP) hardware tokens and SMS-based OTPs.
Whether connecting from a docked connection, public safety land mobile radio (LMR) network, third-party Wi-Fi hotspot or 4G/LTE cellular data network from multiple carriers, the mobile VPN can transparently adapt to maintain secure connections while users roam between different networks.
Entrust's flagship authentication solution, Entrust IdentityGuard, enables organizations to layer security — according to security policy access requirements or the risk of a given transaction — across diverse users and applications.
The combination of RadioIP's mobile VPN and Entrust's authentication solution provides organizations with mobile workers the ability to maintain a seamless connection to vital information while maintaining strict user access control. This combination can help in maximizing productivity while protecting sensitive information without creating an undue burden on the user.
