THORNHILL, ON, Jan. 28, 2015 /CNW/ - Widespread snowfall across southern Ontario could make for a slow and messy commute on Thursday. That's why CAA South Central Ontario (CAA SCO) is reminding drivers to keep the following winter driving tips in mind:
- Check your local forecast.
- Give yourself extra travel time.
- Dress appropriately for the weather.
- Remove all the snow from your vehicle.
- Top up your windshield washer fluid.
- Drive according to the road conditions.
- Be alert behind the wheel.
On an average winter day, CAA SCO receives approximately 3,000 calls for service. During a snowstorm, the number of service calls usually doubles.
CAA SCO is also reminding members to be prepared for higher than normal call volumes and longer than normal wait times during snowstorms. Our top priority is always safety. We service high-priority calls first – those drivers stranded in the snow and cold – prior to those in the comfort and safety of their homes.
Whenever you need help, you can reach us by downloading the CAA app, visiting www.caasco.com/requestroadside or dialing *222 on your smartphone. Included in the app is CAA Service Tracker, which allows our members to track their road service call from the moment it is received to when the request is completed.
For over a hundred years, CAA has been helping Canadians stay mobile, safe and protected. CAA South Central Ontario is one of nine auto clubs across Canada providing roadside assistance, automotive care, travel products, insurance services and member savings for more than 1.9 million members.
