GO Transit honours veterans with free travel on Remembrance Day
TORONTO, Nov. 3, 2010 /CNW/ - On Thursday, November 11, GO Transit will pay tribute to the many men and women who have served to protect Canada by offering war veterans and a companion free, all-day travel on all GO services.
Veterans are asked to identify themselves by wearing their medals, beret, blazer, uniform or other similar belongings while travelling. Immediate family members of deceased veterans may also ride for free that day if carrying something to identify their relations to the late veteran, such as service papers or an identification card.
The Royal Canadian Legions will be selling poppies until November 11 at these GO stations: Erindale, Meadowvale, Lisgar, Streetsville, Danforth, Eglinton, Guildwood, Rouge Hill, Pickering, Old Cummer, Milliken, Long Branch, Mimico, Dixie, Weston and Etobicoke North.
