TORONTO, April 26, 2010 /CNW/ - GO Transit is proud to once again support Operation Lifesaver's Rail Safety Week from April 26 to May 2, 2010, and to use the week to educate the public in order to help reduce crossing collisions and trespassing incidents along Canada's railways.
GO always encourages the public to be careful near railway property, railway crossings and at tracks and stations. During Rail Safety Week, GO will place special emphasis on commuter railway safety.
"The safety of the public is a key priority for GO Transit," said Gary McNeil, GO Transit's Managing Director. "It's important that we take advantage of opportunities to partner with others in the industry to reinforce our continued commitment to railway safety and, in particular, the safety of our customers and the general public."
GO will be sharing safety tips and advice with customers each day and a safety trivia quiz that customers can enter for a chance to win one of three monthly GO passes.
Each year, GO participates in many safety outreach events, and partners with the rail industry, safety organizations, law enforcement, and different levels of government to promote safety and reduce preventable accidents. GO is dedicated to keeping the public and its customers safe. GO's safety programs and practices have made the system one of the safest in North America.
