GoFundMe Announces $10,000 Global Competition For Olympic Athletes
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., June 27, 2016 /CNW/ -- GoFundMe, the world's largest online fundraising platform, today announced a competition that would give Olympic athletes the chance to win $10,000 as they prepare for the Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro. The Olympian who raises the most money in a GoFundMe campaign between June 27th and July 15th will win the $10,000 prize.
Over the past several months, nearly 100 athletes have raised over $400,000 on GoFundMe as they work to qualify and compete in Brazil. This competition will highlight these fundraising efforts and provide an incentive to donors and the athletes alike.
"As a former athlete, I'm glad that GoFundMe can join in the spirit of competition and sportsmanship," said GoFundMe CEO Rob Solomon. "I want to encourage all members of the GoFundMe giving community to support these athletes as they compete for greatness on the worldwide stage."
