Who will win Canada's first medal of the 2018 Commonwealth Games???
GOLD COAST, Australia, April 5, 2018 /CNW/ - Team Canada is set to roll on Day 1 of the XXI Commonwealth Games, with a total of 19 medal events on the day's calendar.
Highlights of the day include:
- Swimming - Penny Oleksiak and Taylor Ruck at the pool – individually in the 200m free, and with the relay team in the 4x100m free. Between the two of them, they have six Olympic medals from Rio 2016 and with swimming being so huge in Australia – it will be HOT at the Optus Aquatic Centre tonight!
- Artistic Gymnastics - Men's gymnastics team – are aiming to improve on their team bronze at Glasgow 2014 – watch for Scott Morgan, the 2nd most decorated Canadian athlete in Glasgow 2014 to impress!
- Cycling – the brand new Anna Meares Velodrome hosts the Commonwealth's best track cyclists. Follow Canada's Women's Team Pursuit – they are sure to be in the medal hunt!
