Golder Associates extends condolences to family of deceased employee
CALGARY, Feb. 29, 2012 /CNW/ - Golder Associates Ltd. was deeply saddened to learn on Monday, February 27 of the death of one its employees from Fort Chipewyan, AB. This individual, a 32-year-old male, became stranded in a remote area near Fort Chipewyan on his way home Saturday night and was unable to reach help. His family initiated a search that ended Monday afternoon when his body was found.
"We are all very shocked and saddened by this tragic event and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and community. This is a very sad day for Golder Associates and for those in Fort Chipewyan who knew him," said Mark Brightman, President of Golder Associates in Canada.
"We know he was a respected member of his community," said Brightman. "Although he had only worked for us a short time, his contributions were greatly valued. I have personally spoken with members of his family and assured them they can count on our complete support as they deal with this tragedy."
Golder Associates has begun an internal investigation to help understand any contributory causes to this incident.
