Government of Canada congratulates Beausoleil First Nation on the opening of a new energy-efficient housing project Français
OTTAWA, TRADITIONAL ALGONQUIN TERRITORY, ON, Nov. 1, 2018 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada is making historic investments to improve housing conditions in First Nations communities, reduce overcrowding, and support the health and well-being of First Nations residents.
Today, the Honourable Jane Philpott, Minister of Indigenous Services, congratulated Beausoleil First Nation on the grand opening of a new six-unit housing project in the community. The new housing units, funded through Budget 2016, are energy efficient and will contribute to healthier lives for their residents.
Beausoleil First Nation is one of 114 First Nation communities in Ontario who are benefitting from new housing investments through Budget 2016. Indigenous Services Canada provided $1,176,000 to support the building of this new housing unit.

- As of June 30, 2018, and since the Budget 2016 announcement, $95.9 million in targeted funding has been allocated in Ontario to build 402 new homes and renovate 718 homes in 114 First Nations communities.
