Government of Canada Invests in Mission Folk Festival - Member of Parliament Randy Kamp announces funding for the Mission Folk Music Festival Society

MISSION, BC, March 10, 2014 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada has provided $48,000 in multi-year funding through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund to enable the Mission Folk Music Festival Society to present the 27^th and 28^th editions of the Mission Folk Music Festival.

Randy Kamp, Member of Parliament (Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge-Mission), announced this continued support today on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Shelly Glover. The funding is for two fiscal years: $24,000 in 2014-2015 and $24,000 in 2015-2016.

• The Mission Folk Music Festival provides residents and visitors with access to live performances by emerging and established folk artists from British Columbia and across Canada.
• The 27^th annual Mission Folk Music Festival will take place July 25 to 27, 2014, and the 28^th edition will take place in July 2015.
• The festival will feature 30 acts in nearly 50 presentations and more than 20 community engagement activities, including a gala concert, outdoor lunchtime concerts, and a summer music camp for local musicians.
• Performances will take place at the Fraser River Heritage Park and the 700-seat Clarke Foundation Theatre.
