Government of Canada review will ensure that innovation and clean technology programs deliver results for Canada's innovators Français
OTTAWA, Sept. 6, 2017 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada is committed to making the most of every taxpayer dollar spent on innovation programs, and making the necessary investments to grow and strengthen Canada's middle class.
That's why the 2017 federal budget put forward an innovation and skills plan to grow the economy and help create tomorrow's well-paying jobs.
Budget 2017 also announced a review of the government's business innovation and clean technology programs. The goal of the review is to simplify and better align these programs with client needs, making it easier for Canadian innovators and job-creators to access and benefit from them.
So far, the review has gathered information on 90 business-facing programs from 20 departments, representing $2.38 billion in annual spending.
As part of the government's commitment to openness and transparency, this information, which includes a catalogue of the business innovation and clean technology programs across Government, is now available in the Inventory of Federal Business Innovation and Clean Technology Programs. This is an initial working inventory, which may be updated after the conclusion of the review.
Over the coming months, the review will be assessing the alignment, effectiveness and coherence of these programs and developing recommendations on how best to improve them.
