MOUNT PEARL, NL, July 26, 2019 /CNW/ - Strategic investments in public infrastructure, including funding for sport and recreation infrastructure, play a key role in ensuring Canadians and their families have access to modern, reliable infrastructure that meets their needs, while creating good jobs that help grow the middle class.
The Honourable Seamus Thomas Harris O'Regan, Member of Parliament for St. John's South–Mount Pearl, and Minister of Indigenous Services, on behalf of the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, today announced funding for accessible recreation in the City of Mount Pearl.
This project consists of constructing an inclusive and accessible playground in Mount Pearl, including the installation of fencing and new landscaping. Once completed, this project will serve all members of the mount pearl community, including youth with autism, disabilities, cerebral palsy, and other accessibility needs.
The Government of Canada is investing over $150,000 to this projects through the Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan.

- Through the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan, the Government of Canada is investing more than $180 billion over 12 years in public transit projects, green infrastructure, social infrastructure, trade and transportation routes, and Canada's rural and northern communities.
- $25.3 billion of this funding is supporting social infrastructure in Canadian communities.
- $2 billion of this funding is supporting infrastructure projects that meet the unique needs of rural and northern communities like facilities to support food security, local access roads and enhanced broadband connectivity.
