CLINTON, ON, April 24, 2014 /CNW/ - On behalf of the Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, Ben Lobb, Member of Parliament for Huron-Bruce, today announced Government of Canada support to increase economic opportunities for women in Huron County and surrounding areas.
Rural Response for Healthy Children is receiving funding to develop strategies to help women access new economic options in Huron County. The organization will collaborate with women in the community, businesses and other stakeholders to identify and leverage opportunities for women to participate in the region's economy.
This project was selected through the Government of Canada's call for proposals entitled Opening Doors: Economic Opportunities for Women.

- Status of Women Canada is providing $176,000 to Rural Response for Healthy Children for this 24 month project.
- Since 2007, the Government of Canada has delivered more than $54 million through the Women's Program at Status of Women Canada for projects that promote women's economic security and prosperity.
