GATINEAU, QC, June 28, 2018 /CNW/ - Every child deserves to get the best start in life and a real and fair chance to succeed. The Government of Canada is making significant investments in early learning and child care so that each and every child can reach their full potential.
Today, the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, launched a call for concepts to find new and innovative ways to improve early learning and child care service delivery.
As early learning and child care is evolving in increasingly complex and challenging environments, innovative practices will help develop solutions that better meet the needs of children and families and improve the quality of early learning and child care.
Through this call for concepts, the most promising concepts will be selected and successful organizations will be invited, in fall 2018, to develop a full project proposal. Not-for-profit organizations, provincial/territorial entities and Indigenous organizations whose mandate focuses on early learning and child care, or that have partners whose mandate focuses on early learning and child care, are encouraged to apply.
This announcement is another step to help ensure that Canadian children get the best start in life and is supported by long-term Government of Canada investments announced in Budgets 2016 and 2017, totalling $7.5 billion over 11 years. Of this amount, $100 million will be dedicated towards early learning and child care innovation.
