OTTAWA, Sept. 17, 2015 /CNW/ - As patron of Canada Army Run, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, will cheer on participants this Sunday, September 20, 2015.
At 7:15 a.m., His Excellency will meet with the ill, injured and disabled athletes participating in Canada Army Run in downtown Ottawa. In addition, the Governor General will address athletes competing in the five-kilometre run, at 7:25 a.m., and those running in the half-marathon, at 9 a.m.
At 9:40 a.m., His Excellency will root for the thousands of participants as they run, walk or roll through the 13-kilometre marker at Rideau Hall. This is the second consecutive year that the official residence and workplace of the governor general is part of the half-marathon course and is hosting a cheering area for members of the public.
