OTTAWA, April 24, 2017 /CNW/ - As part of National Volunteer Week (April 23 to 29), His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will host Working Together for the Common Good: The Governor General's Conference on Giving at Rideau Hall, on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at 9 a.m.
"I'm so pleased to be hosting this conference on giving at Rideau Hall," said His Excellency. "2017 is an important year to reflect on our generosity and to identify how we can give back to Canada during its sesquicentennial for the benefit of future generations. It is so timely to organize this event during National Volunteer Week as one of the conference's main themes will be on giving behaviours, and how we can all take steps to encourage giving. By convening Canadians from across the country who are involved in giving, we will together develop common approaches and best practices on how to continue to build a smarter and more caring Canada."
This one-day, national conference, delivered in partnership with the Rideau Hall Foundation, will focus on three major themes:
- State of the Nation on Giving
- Millennials, Values and Giving Behaviour
- Behavioural Science Principles to Encourage Giving
Canadians from coast to coast to coast are invited to watch the conference live online at www.gg.ca/commongood, where they will be able to submit questions to the panellists via Twitter by using #GGCommonGood. Details about the conference program and the panellists will be announced at a later date. For a sneak peek, watch His Excellency's video message at https://youtu.be/fqKLqhJPsts.
