OTTAWA, Dec. 11, 2015 /CNW/ - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will be in Toronto and Oakville on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. He will offer welcoming remarks at the Conference on Machine Learning and the Market for Intelligence, hosted by the Creative Destruction Lab at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. In addition, he will deliver a keynote address during a dinner hosted by the Oakville Community Foundation, presented in partnership with the Oakville Chamber of Commerce.

Address at the Conference on Machine Learning and the Market for Intelligence
His Excellency will deliver a speech focusing on the potential of machine learning to pioneers from across the world in the field of computer science and economics as well as investors. He will also talk about the importance of collaboration as a means of exploring its possibilities and meeting challenges. Following his speech, the Governor General will attend panel discussions on Machine Intelligence Ventures and Vision Statements, and Demos and Enterprise Applications of Machine Intelligence. The event will conclude with the presentation of three awards by the Creative Destruction Lab.

Keynote Address on Welcoming Syrian Refugees: A Community Effort
The Governor General will deliver a keynote address to members of the Oakville Community Foundation and the Oakville Chamber of Commerce. The speech will focus on coordinating community efforts in advance of the arrival of Syrian refugees.
On December 1, 2015, at Rideau Hall, in Ottawa, His Excellency hosted a forum on welcoming Syrian refugees to Canada. The event's panel discussions shed light on Canada's diversity, inclusion and volunteerism efforts to prepare for the arrival of the Syrian refugees.
