Local food producers, Old Order Mennonite farmers, butchers, bakers and flea market vendors have done business at the St. Jacobs Market since the early 1970s. The original market building was destroyed by fire in September 2013, but vendors carried on with strong community support that included a fundraising campaign to assist vendors in replacing lost inventory and equipment. A new main market building opened in June 2015.
