OTTAWA, Feb. 18, 2020 /CNW/ - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, will visit the Metro Vancouver region, including Surrey, North Vancouver and Vancouver from February 21 to 22, 2020.
In Surrey, the Governor General will engage with students from Simon Fraser University's School of Sustainable Energy Engineering and meet with residents of the YWCA Alder Gardens. In the City of North Vancouver, Her Excellency will invite members of the community to join her for a public skate as part of the initiative GGactive. In the District of North Vancouver, she will recognize the youth who rescued a child on Grouse Mountain. In Vancouver, she will meet with first responders dealing with the opioid overdose crisis, before she takes part in the Vancouver 2010 Olympics 10th Anniversary Celebration.

Visit to Simon Fraser University Surrey Campus
The Governor General will meet with faculty and students from Simon Fraser University, including those from its new School of Sustainable Energy Engineering to learn about the research being done on-site. Her Excellency will also engage in a question and answer session with students.

Her Excellency will meet with first responders dealing with the opioid overdose crisis and visit a safe injection site.
