Governor General to preview interactive exhibits that will be featured at Perimeter Institute's upcoming BrainSTEM: Your Future is Now Festival
WATERLOO, ON, Sept. 20, 2013 /CNW/ - On Monday, September 23, 2013, Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics will host His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, for a sneak peak of the upcoming BrainSTEM: Your Future is Now Festival.
At 2 p.m. on Monday, the Governor General will arrive at the independent Perimeter Institute, where he will preview the interactive exhibits that will be featured at the upcoming BrainSTEM Festival. This will include a new mind control technology headset that triggers activities on a big screen using pure thought. This is just one of thirteen cutting-edge exhibits that will engage youth in a hands-on manner and visually demonstrate the importance of pursuing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) subjects in developing critical thinking skills. The BrainSTEM Festival will be open to the public from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6, 2013.
Following the exhibit preview, the Governor General will visit the Institute's highly regarded Perimeter Scholars International (PSI) training program in the Stephen Hawking Centre. His Excellency will have the opportunity to meet and interact with 31 of the world's most promising master's-level thinkers as they pursue knowledge and develop scientific skills for future areas of endeavour.

From Sept. 30 to Oct. 6, 2013, Perimeter Institute invites the public to imagine, discover, and innovate with the BrainSTEM: Your Future is Now Festival. This one-of-a-kind scientific celebration shares some of the latest and most intriguing technological innovations through a series of interactive exhibits, lectures, school visits, and tours. The activities aim to spark much-needed skills building and entrepreneurial thinking, particularly among today's high school youth, in order that they seize their potential, maximize their education, and be ready to excel in all new careers of the future.
