OTTAWA, May 29, 2017 /CNW/ - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will visit Toronto on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.
The Governor General will speak at the grand finale of The Walrus Talks Conversations About Canada: We Desire a Better Country national tour.He will also attend the 2017 Parachute Gala and receive the first Dr. Charles Tator Parachute Safety Award for his work in raising awareness of concussions in sport.

The Walrus Talks Conversations About Canada: We Desire a Better Country
As part of the Walrus Talks national tour marking our country's 150th anniversary and the
Order of Canada's 50th anniversary, His Excellency will deliver remarks at the tour's grand finale. The event will also feature Order of Canada members Margaret Atwood, Geoff Green and Tom Jackson, as well as young leaders Carl Bray, Wendell Adjetey, Syrus Marcus Ware and Gabrielle Moser. It will be streamed live online at www.thewalrus.ca/live.
The Walrus Foundation, in partnership with the Order of Canada and Canada 150, presents a national tour focusing on the future of our country and featuring 50 members of the Order of Canada and 50 youth leaders. It aims to provide Canadians with opportunities to participate and celebrate together, fostering a deeper understanding of Canada, its people, and what it means to be Canadian. 2017 Parachute Gala
The Governor General will attend and speak at this year's Parachute Gala, an event that brings together members of the medical community, community leaders and entertainers to raise awareness of injury prevention in Canada. During the evening, His Excellency, along with Gordon and Kathleen Stringer, will be presented with the first Dr. Charles Tator Parachute Safety Award, for their dedicated and inspiring efforts as sport concussion advocates.
