Grade 5 teacher recognized as Patrol Supervisor of the Year
THORNHILL, ON, June 20, 2012 /CNW/ - CAA South Central Ontario (CAA SCO) is proud to honour Grade 5 teacher Carol Chipps with the School Safety Patrol Supervisor of the Year Award.
The purpose of the award is to recognize a Patrol Supervisor that demonstrates leadership qualities, safety skills, dedication, morale building and a desire to advance the educational and safety benefits of patrollers.
Ms. Chipps has been a Patrol Supervisor for the past seven years at Oakland-Scotland School. If a foot patroller is unexpectedly unable to do their duties, Ms. Chipps finds a replacement and if necessary serves as an emergency replacement until an off-duty patroller arrives to take over.
"Her enthusiasm is an encouragement for our students to take on the role of becoming a safety patroller. Ms. Chipps has been an exemplary model for all our safety patrollers and deserves recognition for encouraging the school's safety patrollers to perform their duties to the fullest," said Jan Finkelstein, Principal, Oakland-Scotland Public School.
"It takes a dedicated individual to be a Patrol Supervisor. Ms. Chipps has done an outstanding job; setting an excellent example of leadership and safety for Oakland-Scotland's school safety patrollers," said Leslie Rocha, Community Relations Specialist, CAA SCO.
Over 800 schools in Ontario participate in the School Safety Patrol program and CAA SCO partners with over 55 police services to deliver a top notch program.
