MONTREAL, July 6, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ -
What's on offer
- Reopening of the exhibition Journey to Space
- Reopening of the IMAX® TELUS theatre
- Stringent preventive measures
- Web activities to do anywhere
The Science Centre is pleased to announce that its gradual reopening begins on July 14. The featured exhibition Journey to Space will get the ball rolling, followed by the IMAX® TELUS theatre on July 16. For safety's sake, strict preventive measures will be implemented, modifying the visitor experience temporarily.
Journey to a safe space
Launched on February 15, Journey to Space was extremely popular before the temporary closure of the Science Centre. This fascinating, interactive exhibition lets the visitor "become" an astronaut and experience the most remarkable aspects of life in space. Click here to launch your journey to space by exploring the five exhibition zones.
To ensure a safe journey for all, the following temporary changes will be implemented:
- Tickets can be purchased online only (no onsite ticketing)
- Reduced capacity
- Fixed times for visits
The Science Centre has also implemented rigorous preventive measures to ensure that interactivity also means safety, including disinfectant gel, physical distancing, and daily cleaning of the various exhibition stations. For a safe and enjoyable outing, please consult our Visitor Guide.
Although we are exploring various scenarios, the reopening date for the permanent exhibitions has yet to be determined.
Escape to IMAX®
Following the resounding success of Just Like the Movies, which enabled tens of thousands of fans to watch free or low-cost films from home, the IMAX® TELUS theatre is ready to welcome back audiences for an immersive cinematic experience. On the marquee for the July 16 reopening: Superpower Dogs 3D, a delightful film that transports viewers to the four corners of the planet to meet some of its most extraordinary dogs. Also on the schedule is Great Bear Rainforest 3D, a first class voyage to one of Canada's incredible wild sanctuaries.
Web activities to do anywhere
Throughout the pandemic, the Science Centre has offered web activities to science enthusiasts across Quebec. Two other fun activities were added recently: Randolph quizzes, on which the Science Centre collaborated, for elementary students and Your Grandparent: Scientist or Technologist? which encourages 8 to 12 year olds to discover and document a grandparent's scientific or technological approach to an everyday challenge.
