VANCOUVER, Oct. 11, 2017 /CNW/ - Grande West Transportation Group Inc. (TSXV: BUS; OTC PINK: GWTNF) – October 11, 2017: ("Grande West" or the "Company"), a Canadian bus manufacturer of mid-sized multi-purpose transit vehicles for sale in Canada and the United States, is pleased to announce that it will be unveiling an extension to its product line.
In addition to offering tours of the recently operational College Park Assembly Facility on October 11, Grande West will be unveiling an expansion to its current Vicinity product line. The Company will offer attendees a sneak peak at the newly designed transit vehicle. The high-quality, cost competitive vehicle will be offered from 22' to 28' lengths, designed for use in community service, airports, campuses, hotel shuttles, etc. This new high capacity vehicle was designed and built following the same quality standards used in our Best In Class heavy-duty mid-size Vicinity buses.
Grande West will be showing an "operational mock up" of the new 27.5' concept design. Our goal is to present the vehicle to attendees and obtain feedback relative to operator needs. We invite all transit agencies and private operators to examine the current design, offer observations and contribute to the final design.
Grande West believes that this monocoque body, rear-engine, low floor medium-duty transit vehicle will be a game changer. The 27.5' vehicle can accommodate up to 27 seated passengers and standees with multiple wheelchair positions. Designed with a 1:6 ramp slope, it is fully accessible for all passengers in need of extra assistance and wheelchair accessibility. This unique transit vehicle, powered by a GM gas engine and Allison transmission, will offer the same serviceability, maintainability and reliability typically found in transit vehicles with similar powertrains.
Grande West believes that this new category of "Crossover" vehicles will provide a superior option to current 'cutaway' offerings available to the transit market today.
Final engineering of the new vehicle will follow by taking into consideration industry expert feedback. Product and sales availability of this crossover vehicle will be announced in the near future.
