KITCHENER, ON, April 12, 2019 /CNW/ - Today more than 50 children and families who are part of the Ronald McDonald House community in south central Ontario were treated to an exclusive event hosted by Great Clips, in collaboration with Feld Entertainment. Held at Bingemans FunworX in Kitchener, the event was just the latest example of Great Clips' continued philanthropy in the communities where it operates.
In addition to the climbing, sliding, and all-around fun, children and their parents had the opportunity to pose for photos with Monster Jam®'s Bryce Kenny, driver of Great Clips Mohawk Warrior®, who also signed autographs during his special appearance.
"Kids and families who stayed at Ronald McDonald House have dealt with some serious issues, so we wanted to give these folks a special day where they could just have fun," said Farhan Merchant, marketing manager with Great Clips Canada. "Great Clips is always looking for ways to give back to the community and having Bryce Kenny come out and meet the kids, while also providing them with some super fun activities at Bingemans FunworX, seemed like a great way to do that."
Bryce Kenny is in Hamilton this weekend competing in Monster Jam, the most action-packed live event on four wheels where world class drivers compete in front of capacity crowds around the globe. With a huge fan following, Kenny uses his role as driver of the Great Clips-sponsored Mohawk Warrior Monster Jam truck to meet with and inspire young fans who are battling serious illness, and whose courage never ceases to amaze him. "They are kids, but they are also warriors, battling their illnesses," says Kenny. "Seeing them laugh and play is the best part of this job."
While kids loved the event, parents are equal fans. "Oh my gosh. I can't believe how much fun we are having," said Tiffany Free, whose family stayed at Ronald McDonald House, South Central Ontario. "So much of our time was spent at the hospital, so to have a morning like this, where we can just be together as a family and celebrate how far we've come… to forget about that stuff and just be a family … I can't tell you how special that is."
"Ronald McDonald House is all about helping families, so an event like this, where families who are part of the RMH community in the Kitchener-Waterloo area are treated to a special day of fun — thanks to Great Clips and Feld Entertainment — is greatly appreciated," said Chris Over, Manager Fundraising & Donor Relations spokesperson for Ronald McDonald House. "You don't need to look any further than the smiles on everyone's faces to see it was a tremendous success."
In November, Great Clips gave free haircuts to veterans and active duty members of the military, just two months after partnering with Monster Jam to donate $5,000 worth of school supplies to a school in Calgary.
