Green Arc Tire and AirBoss Partner to Create Jobs and Promote Green Innovation
KITCHENER, ON, March 24, 2014 /CNW/ - Two leading North American companies, Green Arc Tire Manufacturing Inc., and AirBoss of America Corp. announced today that they are working together to create jobs, advance green innovation and support the regional economy.
"This is a local partnership with tremendous benefits," said John Tomins, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at AirBoss. "Our companies are combining innovative technologies to create local jobs, improve the environment and help the economy. We're very excited about that."
About AirBoss
AirBoss Rubber Compounding is one of North America's largest custom rubber mixers. It will produce up to 24 million pounds of rubber compound annually for Green Arc tires. "This additional volume at the company's Kitchener facility will create 20 new jobs," said Steve Barefoot, Plant Manager at AirBoss.
"We're delighted to be working with a company that shares our commitment to the community and the environment," said Mike DiCenzo, CEO of Green Arc Tire. "Together we're producing new tires in a process that gives used tires a second life. It's a process that's far more practical, efficient and green than tire recycling will ever be."
About Green Arc
Green Arc plans to produce up to 3 million eco tires a year for passenger, SUV and light trucks, at its modern new facility in St. Marys. It is the largest operation of its kind in North America. Green Arc's production process uses significantly less oil and energy than regular tires. By reusing 80 percent of original tire components, Green Arc is producing an eco tire with one of the highest post consumer contents of any recycled product. Green Arc's eco tires have equal performance and life of regular tires, at 30 to 50 percent less cost.
"Over the past decade, our local labour force has experienced a loss of traditional manufacturing jobs, said Carl Zehr, Mayor of Kitchener. "I was encouraged to learn of these two local companies coming together to create new manufacturing job opportunities and promote green innovation."
On behalf of the Town of St. Marys, I congratulate Green Arc on taking another step forward as they continue to move towards the opening of their St. Marys manufacturing operation," said Steve Grose, Mayor of St. Marys.
Green Arc plans to begin production this spring. Its modern new St. Marys facility will create 340 new jobs and generate more than $100 million annually in economic benefits.
