Grinch-Proofing Your Vehicle - Seasonal Public Service Announcement
HALIFAX, Dec. 10 /CNW/ - With the Holiday Season upon us the Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia (IBANS) would like to remind all motorists to lock their vehicles at all times.
Tis the Season to be jolly, but it's also the time of year when car break-ins are on the rise. It's important to Grinch-Proof your vehicle from would-be criminals to ensure your holiday purchases are safe from theft.
When shopping, remember to lock your car and keep shopping bags hidden from view. Even an empty shopping bag can give the appearance that there are items worth stealing within the vehicle, so use caution and remove purchases as soon as possible, and keep your car locked.
When you return home remove all valuables from your vehicle including: purses, GPS and all electronics. Also keep your car free from clutter as this helps to reduce break-ins. Always keep your vehicle locked even when it's in your driveway, and don't leave your garage door opener inside your car as thieves can use it to gain access to your home and your valuables.
Remember the key to a happy holiday season is safety, so take precautions, be proactive and lock your vehicle.
This message has been brought to you by the Insurance Brokers Association of Nova Scotia.
