LOS ANGELES, May 19, 2014 /CNW/ - As an early pick-up from the L.A. Screenings, CTV has recruited the final piece for its hot summer schedule, adding gritty action drama GANG RELATED to its thrilling lineup. Premiering this Thursday, May 22 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV, GANG RELATED will lead into hit drama 19-2 at 10 p.m. ET beginning June 5. Starring Ramon Rodriguez (THE WIRE), RZA (CALIFORNICATION), Terry O'Quinn (LOST), Cliff Curtis (Training Day), and Rey Gallegos (SONS OF ANARCHY), GANG RELATED follows an up-and-coming officer in Los Angeles' elite Gang Task Force who, long before he was a cop, pledged allegiance to a different band of brothers - a powerful Latino gang called Los Angelicos. GANG RELATED hails from producers of THE SHIELD and 24, and is created, written, and executive produced by Chris Morgan, the screenwriter of several films in The Fast & The Furious franchise. GANG RELATED will also be available live and on demand on CTV.ca and the CTV Go app.

"GANG RELATED is the perfect final piece of the CTV summer schedule," said Mike Cosentino, Senior Vice-President, Programming, CTV Networks. "Serialized, gritty and powerful, this action-packed drama will perfectly complement hit drama 19-2 Thursday nights on CTV."
In GANG RELATED, when Detective Ryan Lopez's (Ramon Rodriguez) best friend and police partner is senselessly killed by a notorious gang member, he teams up with longtime Task Force member Cassius Green (RZA), who has been at the forefront of the city's war on organized crime. But things are complicated for Ryan, as despite his profession, he's still tied to the powerful Latino gang Los Angelicos, and the gang's leader Javier Acosta (Cliff Curtis). Javier is the father figure Ryan has tried to make proud his entire life, and the man who masterminded his entry into the police force. It's a secret that has been held for a decade by Ryan, Javier, and Javier's sons: cold-blooded gang lieutenant Carlos (Rey Gallegos); and straight-laced investment banker Daniel (Jay Hernandez, NASHVILLE), Ryan's childhood best friend.
Ryan begins to realize he might be more dedicated to being a cop than he is to Los Angelicos. He is respected by his team, including Tae Kim (Sung Kang, Fast Five), Veronica "Vee" Dotsen (Inbar Lavi, Underemployed), and Task Force leader Sam Chapel (Terry O'Quinn) - Ryan's other surrogate father figure - whose estranged daughter, Jessica (Shantel VanSanten, ONE TREE HILL), is the city's Assistant District Attorney. While balancing two allegiances, two father figures, and two families, Ryan's increasing sense of loyalty to one will help him finally determine which side of the law he's really on.
GANG RELATED is from 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Entertainment, Chris Morgan Productions, and Skeeter Rosenbaum Productions. The series is created and written by Chris Morgan (Wanted, Fast Five), and executive-produced by Morgan, Scott Rosenbaum (THE SHIELD, CHUCK), Academy Award®-winning producer Brian Grazer (24, A Beautiful Mind), and Francie Calfo (THE GREAT ESCAPE, THE PLAYBOY CLUB). Allen Hughes (Dead Presidents, Book of Eli) directed and served as an executive producer on the pilot.
