Iconic Dutch lager to spotlight independent filmmaking as part of multi-year sponsorship
TORONTO, Jan. 16, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, Grolsch was named the official beer sponsor of TIFF, an international leader in film culture and producer of the world-renowned Toronto International Film Festival. The partnership provides a platform to introduce Grolsch Film Works in Canada - a new, innovative program designed to support emerging filmmaking talent and bring indie cinema to a wider audience.
Since its inception in 1615, Grolsch has been driven by an independent spirit. From the iconic swing top bottle, to instigating a double-hop brewing process that results in a beer with a bolder, more interesting flavour, Grolsch has long been a champion of creativity and independent thinking.
"TIFF's exceptional reputation for spotlighting and supporting new and emerging filmmaking talent made it the perfect partner for Grolsch to bring its global commitment to indie cinema to life in Canada," said Stewart Cowan, General Manager of Grolsch in Canada.
As part of the partnership, Grolsch will serve as presenting sponsor of TIFF's Discovery Programme, showcasing captivating work from up-and-coming filmmakers from around the world during the Toronto International Film Festival.
"We are delighted to have Grolsch on board as the official beer of TIFF," said Piers Handling, Director and Chief Executive Officer, TIFF. "We look forward to working together to champion the work of budding filmmakers from around the world. Raise a glass to Grolsch!"
