GUNSKIRCHEN, Austria, June 21, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The Can-Am Spyder Grossglockner Challenge is an owner's event for all Can-Am Spyder enthusiasts coming from Russia to Turkey, from Finland to Germany and Austria. This year, around 300 attendees participated in the expedition.
The starting point was the Gunskirchen site, and the event began with a guided tour of the facility. Participants enjoyed the technical aspects in the production of these high-performance engines.
The first expedition was from Gunskirchen to Altmünster via the Schlögener Schlinge, Schärding and Burghausen. In the evening, Milos Laznicka, Regional General Manager & Eastern Europe, Russia & CIS, made a donation of € 5,000 to the Altmünster voluntary fire service. This was BRP's way of thanking the people of Altmünster for their support in this annual Can-Am Spyder event.
The climax of the Can-Am Spyder Grossglockner Challenge was to drive up the Großglockner. The ones who participated appreciated all the 48 km, sweeping round 36 bends to a height of 2,504 meters. Their reward at the top was this unique panoramic views of the 30 "Three Thousandersˮ in the National Park Hohe Tauern.
During the evening, people were sharing their riding experience and five awards were granted to Can-Am Spyder drivers. Different winning categories were created such as the male and female drivers who had each travelled the furthest received an award, the youngest participant, the Can-Am Spyder driver with the most kilometres on the clock and finally, the one with the most originally personalised vehicle. Participants thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Can-Am Spyder community.
Thomas Uhr, vice-president BRP-Powertrain and general manager BRP-Rotax GmbH & Co KG emphasised: "I am delighted to see so many enthusiastic Can-Am Spyder drivers gathered at this event. The Can-Am Spyder Großglockner Challenge represents for everyone an event in a class of its own and the number of people attending demonstrates the extent of our expertise in the power sports vehicles segment".
