MONTREAL, Jan. 25, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - GSM Project is announcing the official unveiling of an updated showcase at the Pointe-à-Callière archaeology and history complex in Montreal, Canada. GSM collaborated with the Museum to improve the visitor experience using new technology and interactivity.
GSM produced an immersive multimedia installation in the market square archaeological site. Bringing together sound, image, and narration, this unique visual installation uses a system of lighting structures to allow visitors to discover the people and buildings of Old Montreal over the past 500 years.
The Great Peace Treaty of 1701 now has its own dedicated space at the Museum. For this installation, GSM designed a visual projection featuring the various players of the time, as well as a touch screen that lets visitors interact with the painted glass murals of artist Nicolas Sollogoub.
GSM and the Museum have also developed three interactive games that invite visitors to test their knowledge of Montreal's history throughout the ages.
"GSM Project has done excellent work that both enhances the Pointe-à-Callière experience and highlights the founding of Montreal," explained Francine Lelièvre, Director General of Pointe-à-Callière, Montreal's archaeology and history complex. "This new way of presenting the ruins is more contemporary and creative, and makes the space more accessible to our public. The team at GSM knew how to build on the avant-garde and technological tendencies that have distinguished the Museum for the past 25 years."
"This was an incredible opportunity to totally rethink the visitor experience of Montreal's most cherished archaeological site" said Nathanael Meyer, Creative Director and Head of Design, GSM Project. "GSM has had the pleasure of collaborating with Pointe-à-Callière on several occasions since its grand opening in 1992. The Museum was bold and daring in its revitalization of the permanent exhibition. The result is an unconventional and contemporary look at archaeology and the history of Montreal."
