GTEC Recognizes Public Sector Leaders Who Are Charting New Technology Frontiers and Improving the Lives of Canadians
Achieving Impact Through ICT Innovation, Collaboration and Digital Transformation
OTTAWA, Ontario, Sept. 7, 2016 /CNW/ -- In the face of complex challenges such as the refugee crisis, sustainable health care, economic reform, security and climate change, Canadian public sector leaders are championing novel solutions founded on innovation, collaboration and digital transformation. These trailblazers are not simply improving public service delivery – they are improving the lives of Canadians. And on November 1, 2016, GTEC will recognize key municipal, provincial and federal leaders who are charting these new technology frontiers and bolstering public sector performance and impact during its prestigious Distinction Awards.
GTEC, Canada's internationally recognized forum for enabling and celebrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) leadership, innovation and impact in Canada's public sector, today announced the distinguished Honourees of its highly-prized Distinction Awards. Hosted just steps away from Parliament Hill at Ottawa's Shaw Centre, the annual awards recognize and celebrate Information and ICT leadership, excellence and service delivery across all three levels of government.
Comprised of senior public and private sector executives, the GTEC Honouree Selection Committee conducted a rigorous criteria-driven evaluation process and selected 28 Honourees among the nominations received from the federal, provincial and municipal governments. Up to 18 Medalists will be awarded the coveted Distinction Medal in the presence of hundreds of guests at the GTEC Distinction Awards Ceremony and Gala on November 1, 2016. Recipients will keep esteemed company. More than 1,200 public sector teams and individual leaders have received this distinction for excellence in public service ICT management and delivery since 1993.
"GTEC is proud to endow and celebrate Canadian leaders who are driving ICT innovation, collaboration and digital transformation, and increasing the impact of our public sector," said Michele Lajeunesse, Executive Director of GTEC. "Our 2016 Honourees truly embody the spirit of GTEC's Distinction Awards. They are demonstrating leadership and adopting novel technologies and approaches to address challenges that directly impact the lives of Canadians. This leadership is required to help Canada realize its goals as an innovation nation."
