Guelph new homes release bucks "trend"
GUELPH, ON, Feb. 27, 2013 /CNW/ - When the Presentation Centre doors opened, there were 13 cars parked and waiting in the immediate area. On Saturday morning, there were 25 new townhomes for sale, available for the first time - and 23 were taken by Sunday evening.
Canada may or may not be caught in a "housing slump". Media reports abound with that phrase, citing statistics that suggest falling numbers. But while the reality of this situation is subject to much debate - for instance, the Canadian Real Estate Association has reported a 1.3% increase in home sales in January, 2013 - there is no question that a unique event in Guelph in February blasted any trends or predictions right out of the water.
On February 23, Reid's Heritage Homes released 25 of the new townhomes of Arlington Court, part of Westminster Woods, an established and vibrant Guelph community that now includes over 1,000 homes. All but two of those homes were gobbled up by eager new home-buyers by the end of the weekend. The Arlington Court townhomes are part of the final phase of the highly successful Westminster Woods development.
Reid's Heritage Homes is currently operating in, building upon and expanding in over 20 communities across south-central Ontario, from London to Guelph to Owen Sound. Blake Seeberger, Vice-President of Residential Construction commented, "We are aware of the statistics, but our experience shows very strongly that there will always be buyers for high quality homes at the right price points. We believe that the response to Arlington Court is proof of that, and we're very grateful that people seeking their new homes are putting their confidence in us."
