TORONTO, Sept. 8 /CNW/ - From a happily married husband and father to a guilt-ridden single dad, Miami-based blood spatter expert Dexter Morgan returns to pick up the pieces after the shocking death of his wife Rita in the Season 4 finale of Showtime's acclaimed drama series Dexter. Picking up right where the previous season left off, Dexter (Season 5) premieres Sunday, September 26 at 9 p.m. PT on Corus Entertainment's Movie Central (Western Canada) and 10 p.m. ET on Astral's The Movie Network (Eastern Canada).
After discovering the lifeless body of Rita who was murdered at the hands of the Trinity Killer (John Lithgow in his Emmy®-winning guest role), Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) must try and remain focused - and undetected - as his new reality and responsibilities threaten to overwhelm him like never before. While coping with his new life, Dexter hires a nanny (Maria Doyle Kennedy), develops a special relationship with a mysterious new woman (Julia Stiles) and sets his sights on a new target to satisfy his Dark Passenger.
Also joining the cast for Season 5 are: Jonny Lee Miller as a man mysteriously connected to Stiles' character; Peter Weller, as a troubled Miami Metro police officer; and Chris Vance, as a personal aide to a famous businessman. Dexter also stars Jennifer Carpenter, C.S. Lee, Lauren Vélez, David Zayas, and James Remar.
Series star Michael C. Hall was honoured this past year with a Golden Globe® and Screen Actors Guild® Award and John Lithgow was awarded a Golden Globe® for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for his role as the Trinity Killer. The series also received a prestigious 2008 Peabody Award and twice named one of AFI's top 10 television programs.
