GUINNESS® Canada kicks off St. Patrick's Weekend - a four-day celebration of all things authentically Irish
Dubliners recruited to show Canadians how to celebrate the Irish way
TORONTO, March 11, 2014 /CNW/ - GUINNESS, the uniquely authentic Irish beer and the world's most famous stout, is helping Canadians kick off St. Patrick's Weekend - a four-day celebration of all things authentically Irish. Recognizing that this year Canada's beloved celebration falls on a dreaded Monday, GUINNESS is coming to the aid of Canadians everywhere - and they aren't doing it alone.
After the success of last year's "Friends Don't Let Friends Drink Green Beer" campaign, GUINNESS Canada has decided to bring two of friends from Ireland back to Toronto, once again. Handpicked for their Irish patriotism, appreciation of GUINNESS and their desire to educate Canadians on the authentic way to celebrate, the two Irish recruits have arrived on Canadian soil just in time for St. Patrick's weekend festivities.
"We are delighted to have our Irish Ambassadors on board to help us bring a sense of authenticity to St. Patrick's Day in Canada," said Joel Mallard, Marketing Director, GUINNESS. "With 255 years of heritage and craftsmanship and a global reputation as the world's most famous stout, GUINNESS is the only acceptable drink of choice to enjoy responsibly when having an authentic celebration."
Dubliner Mark Rossiter, a proud Irish barman with the nickname "Happy," and David Tunney, a 5th generation Dubliner will help kick off St. Patrick's Weekend.
"As Irishmen, we are thrilled that Canada loves St. Patrick's Day," said Mark Rossiter. "However, hearing about green beer and party beads, I feel that it is my patriotic duty to share with Canadians the authentic and customary Irish celebrations of St. Patrick's Day Weekend."
Additional ways to make Canadian celebrations more authentically Irish, include:
- Choosing authentic fare:
- Say "sláinte" to real Irish brews such as GUINNESS. Or try a traditional Irish breakfast: eggs and bangers (Irish sausage), grilled tomato, and rashers (Irish bacon).
- Choosing an Irish venue:
- Toronto is home to a number of Irish pubs. Check out the GUINNESS St. Patrick's Weekend City Guide to find your local Irish spot.
- Singing and dancing:
- Traditional Irish song and dance is a great way to let loose and celebrate St. Patrick's Weekend responsibly with your friends.
