GWR Resources Phase 1 Drilling Underway - Initial Results Encouraging
ARMSTRONG, BC, April 15 /CNW/ - GWR Resources Inc. (TSX Venture: GWQ) is pleased to report commencement of Phase 1 exploration at the Lac La Hache porphyry gold-copper Project (see April 1 News Release at http://www.gwrresources.com/s/NewsReleases.asp). A drill rig was mobilized to the property April 10 - 11 and was successfully positioned over previously drilled hole AZS08-04 collar (a vertical hole that ended in mineralized hydrothermal breccia at 481.6 m) to re-enter and continue that hole as AZS10-21. Reaming was completed April 12, successfully reaching the bottom of AZS08-04.
The Company is encouraged that new coring below 481.6 m has continued the previously intersected, mineralized hydrothermal breccia, with strong epidote-albite fracturing cutting intense potassic alteration in the host monzonite. Chalcopyrite is locally abundant, occurring along fractures as blebs and stringers. In several core intervals from 4 to 40 cm, the chalcopyrite occurs as semi-massive chalcopyrite matrix-fillings in brecciated and fractured monzonite. Traces of bornite, spotty magnetite, and black chlorite have been reported to 527 m depth, where drilling continues (as at April 14 pm). Drilling will continue to approximately 800 m vertical depth, or deeper. The drill core will be descriptively logged in detail, cut, sampled, and sent to Ecotech Labs in Kamloops for assay of gold, copper, silver and 30 other elements. Results will be reported when available. All drill holes in our 2010 Program will be surveyed using a Reflex multishot hole deviation tool.
These early results validate our model for the Aurizon South Zone, as reported previously and as presented April 6 - 7, 2010 at the annual Kamloops Exploration Group Conference. The Company is pleased with the strong positive response to our presentations at that venue.
