Habitat for Humanity family comes home for the holidays
TORONTO, Dec. 16, 2012 /CNW/ - On Sunday, December 16, 2012, Habitat for Humanity Toronto will present the Viaje family with keys to their new condo unit at 20 Gilder Drive, in Toronto's east end. This event marks the completion of Habitat Toronto's first endeavor into condominium refurbishment as a means to safe, decent and affordable homeownership.
The dedication ceremony will bring together donors, volunteers, and neighbours to celebrate the homecoming of Ariel Viaje and his two children, Patrick (17) and Patrice (13). Home sponsor CIL® paints (www.cil.ca) will help finalize the painting of the three-bedroom, two-bathroom condo unit, using colours the family has chosen during a personalized paint consultation.
As a single parent with a low income, Ariel Viaje has struggled to meet the needs of his family since moving to Toronto from the Philippines in 2005. The family of three currently shares a one-bedroom apartment, making every day a challenge.
"Our new Habitat home will not only provide us with better living conditions and future financial security, but it will also help bring my family together," says Ariel. "It's not only about the physical space, but also the positive and supportive relationships that I can build and surround my children with. That makes it a home."
According to Alison Goldman, CIL Brand Manager: "The colours the family has chosen for the walls of their new home, including blue, emerald, plum and deep slate, will go a long way in lifting their spirits not only at holiday time, but throughout the entire year."
