Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area partners with The Daniels Corporation to build their first Partner Family home in the town of Aurora
AURORA, ON, June 25, 2014 /CNW/ - Once again, Habitat for Humanity GTA has partnered with The Daniels Corporation to make the dream of homeownership a reality for a family of four, with the contribution of a townhome, within Daniels FirstHome™ Aurora community on Bayview Ave. On June 26 at 2:30 p.m. Habitat volunteers, corporate sponsors, and community partners, will come together to celebrate completion of the Lippa family home and Habitat for Humanity GTA's first build in the town of Aurora.
"Witnessing a family realize their dream of homeownership, is why we continue to lay the foundation for innovative affordable homeownership solutions," says Richard Solomon, Regional Vice President, Habitat for Humanity GTA. "We are thrilled to expand our boundaries serving even more families in the York Region and look forward building more homes in the town of Aurora."
Habitat for Humanity GTA acquired the partially completed three bedrooms, two bath townhouse in the Daniels FirstHome™ Aurora community in early 2014. Habitat volunteers then completed the interior framing, insulation and drywall.
"The Daniels team was excited when we talked to Habitat GTA about the opportunity to have them participate in our FirstHome™ Aurora community," says Don Pugh, Vice President of The Daniels Corporation. "With every FirstHome™ Community we have built to date, we have asked the local Habitat affiliates if they would like to be involved. The rules are continually changing, putting more pressure on our ability to provide affordable homeownership. If we feel these pressures as a large builder-developer, then they are most certainly felt by Habitat for Humanity. We've always known that Habitat Partner Families would feel at home in our FirstHome™ Communities because they have worked equally as hard to get here."
Things some may take for granted, are welcomed thoughts of home for the Lippa family, like a safe and decent place to raise their two young children and something as simple as "a place where you can feel comfortable cooking breakfast in your pajamas."
Cesidio and Rosemarie Lippa partnered with Habitat for Humanity GTA because of their current living situation. Presently, they live in an unhealthy, mold infested environment, with little space to raise their two young children Loryanne and Lueyanne. Their dream is to own a home that provides their children with safety and comfort. This is very important for Cesidio and Rosemarie and it would make a world of difference for them and the Lippas are looking forward to life in their new Habitat home.
