VANCOUVER, Aug. 10, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Montreal Canadiens star forward and local Vancouver hockey favorite Brendan Gallagher is hosting his 2nd Annual Celebrity Softball Classic benefitting Shriners Hospital for Children® - Canada on Saturday, August 13th, 2016 at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver, B.C. Many of the National Hockey League's bright young stars will be joining him on the roster including Milan Lucic (Edmonton), Lance Bouma (Calgary), Morgan Rielly (Toronto), Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (Edmonton), Mark Scheifele (Winnipeg), Shea Weber (Montreal), Nate Beaulieu (Montréal), Josh Gorges (Buffalo) and Sam Reinhart (Buffalo) as well as former NHLers Paul Reinhart and Dave Babych.

Gallagher is not only a star on the ice. To young patients at Canada Shriners Hospital; he's become their personal star, having come to the Montreal-based hospital to meet and encourage them several times. "After taking a tour of this national hospital and meeting some patients and staff, I decided that more Canadians needed to know how wonderful this hospital is and what great work they do," said Gallagher. Indeed the Habs star's annual softball game seeks to raise both funding and awareness for Canada Shriners Hospital, a national pediatric hospital specializing in orthopedic and neuromuscular disorders such as scoliosis, brittle bone disease, club feet, hip dysplasia, leg length discrepancies and cerebral palsy.
