Haldimand County Approves Draft Plan for Caledonia Housing Project
HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON, Oct. 20, 2015 /CNW/ - The Haldimand County is proud to support Empire Communities and the release of their newest community in Caledonia, Avalon. This carefully master-planned community will provide a broad spectrum of homes to fit our community's growing needs. With a proposed school, extensive trail network and multi-use sports field, this family-friendly community will not only support healthy active living but will also complement our County's natural surroundings.
"Given recent media reports concerning the project, it is important that we add some clarity to the current situation" stated Haldimand County Mayor Ken Hewitt.
"We want to assure residents of Haldimand County and potential new residents that we are pleased to see that this project is now going ahead. Empire has gone through all of the regulatory municipal approvals required to obtain Draft Plan Approval permitting them to sell homes. These approvals through Haldimand County are well known to the recognized representatives of the Six Nations who have been advised by the County as required throughout the application and approvals process for this project," added Mayor Hewitt.
As a result, Empire Communities has recently begun site works in addition to the servicing of the site.
It should be pointed out that, due to high demand, Empire initiated its first sales event this past weekend for Avalon with an extremely positive response.
"The County welcomes the benefits that this exciting new master-planned community in Caledonia will bring to the area. The design of Avalon along the Canadian Heritage Grand River will be a truly community- focused environment built for many new families. We look forward to the first families moving into Avalon and are grateful for Empire's commitment to our community," said Don Boyle, Chief Administrative Officer.
