MONTRÉAL, Oct. 17, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - With Halloween just around the corner, it's the perfect time for families to enjoy a fun and inspiring nature experience at Montréal Space for Life! There are all kinds of activities on offer until October 31: new tales for children, amazingly decorated pumpkins, entertaining information sessions on spiders, a friendly witch with wacky magic spells and, of course, Halloween for the animals.
The Great Pumpkin Ball, that fall classic at the Botanical Garden, will wow visitors with some 800 fabulous decorated entries in its pumpkin-decorating contest. Esmeralda, our friendly witch and urban gardener, will be showing off her marvelous vegetable harvest and asking kids to help her come up with fun recipes. The Little Monsters Courtyard will be waiting for youngsters who enjoy burning off some energy outdoors. At the Squash Kiosk, our educators will be presenting about fifty surprising varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds grown right here at the Botanical Garden. Last but not least, don't miss the all-new kids' storytelling session, POUAH! Bébé sorcière, directed by Jean-François Guilbeault and based on the book by author Lucie Papineau and illustrator Steve Beshwaty, presented in co-operation with the Friends of the Montréal Botanical Garden.
It's also time to get to know the spiders at the Insectarium, with the Spiders Unmasked program of activities examining their fascinating behaviour. Young and old alike will enjoy the reading of the original new story Le Roi des bestioles, created in co-operation with the Association des écrivains québécois pour la jeunesse, with texts by Émilie Rivard, Jean Bernèche, Jocelyn Jalette and Louise Tondreau-Levert, all illustrated by Mika and Hélène Lavertu.
On October 28 and 29, the Biodôme will be celebrating Halloween for the Animals! Mammals, fish and even birds will use their natural instincts and skills to get at their favourite food, hidden away inside pumpkin-shaped surprise packages. This enrichment activity is not only fun and delicious, but also helps keep them alert.
