OTTAWA, June 30, 2017 /CNW/ - Canada Day 150 celebrations are kicking off today, and National Capital Region (NRC) police and security partners are ready to ensure robust protective services for the numerous events that will highlight this special milestone over the course of the next few days.
We would like to remind Canadians and visitors that it is important to keep up to date with security information to enjoy a safe and festive Canada Day. One important tip to remember is to plan ahead to allow for sufficient time to proceed through security screening areas! Arriving a few hours early to a venue will allow you to ensure that you do not miss the shows that you want to enjoy!
If you have not already done so, we strongly encourage you to visit our central source of information for frequent updates on security. Access and other useful tips is available at https://www.pps-spp.ca/canada-150/ where updates will be posted throughout the festivities.
We remain committed to the safety and well-being of all Canadians and our visitors. To this end, we also ask the public to join us in our collective efforts for a safe Canada Day, by remaining vigilant at all times, and by reporting suspicious activity or information to their local law enforcement officials
(9-1-1) or by dialing the Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) Emergency Number: 613-992-7000 for matters relating to Parliament Hill.
