Photo and Interview Opportunity - Pet Safety Week 2013

BACKGROUND:	Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (Toronto Hydro) & the Toronto Humane Society are teaming up once again for the city's second annual Pet Safety Week Oct. 20 - 26. To launch this year's Pet Safety Week, Toronto Hydro and the Toronto Humane Society have chosen their top 5 Howl-o-ween pet costumes and a number of pet safety tips. There are various hazards that pet owners may not be aware of. From Halloween candy to poisonous plants, and with all of the new technology and equipment that require electricity in the home, animals are more likely to find ways to get into trouble. There are few resources available for new and seasoned pet owners on overall safety. Pet Safety Week will arm pet owners with simple strategies on how to stay safe all year-round.

INTERVIEW / PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES	Smokey Bear and Roux, are two active and inquisitive cats that have been hospitalized several times. These brothers have chewed electrical cords, broken glass, and swallowed a number of items including almonds, bikini strings and shoelaces. These curious cats have used up at least one of their nine lives. They and their owner are available for interviews and photo opportunities this week. Toronto Hydro and the Toronto Humane Society are available to provide their top 5 safety tips for pet owners and showcase the Howl-o-ween pet costumes they chose and explain why.
