WATERLOO, ON, Jan. 24, 2014 /CNW/ - The Government of Canada today announced support for a project to enhance economic prosperity among immigrant women in Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge. The announcement was made by Susan Truppe, Parliamentary Secretary for Status of Women, and Peter Braid, Member of Parliament for Kitchener-Waterloo, on behalf of the Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women.
Under the project, Focus for Ethnic Women will work in partnership with community stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that will address the needs of immigrant women and help them overcome obstacles to employment.
This project was selected through the Government of Canada's recent call for proposals entitled Opening Doors: Economic Opportunities for Women.
