LANGLEY, BC, July 11, 2012 /CNW/ - On behalf of the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), Mark Warawa, Member of Parliament (Langley), today announced the Government of Canada's contribution to Gymnastics Canada in support of the 2012 Trampoline Canada Cup. The event is being held in Langley from July 12 to 15, 2012.
"The Government of Canada is proud to support our athletes and provide opportunities to compete, here at home, against international athletes," said Minister of State Gosal. "The 2012 Trampoline Canada Cup provides another opportunity for our athletes to compete on the road to London 2012."
"Our city is proud to host this prestigious event, and I congratulate the organizers and community volunteers who helped make it possible," said Mr. Warawa. "Hosting international sport events like the 2012 Trampoline Canada Cup not only showcases our region on the international stage, but also brings a welcome boost to the local economy."

"The 2012 Canada Cup is an international junior competition providing experience and exposure to future trampoline gymnastics stars. This event is a tremendous development opportunity for gymnasts, coaches, and judges and provides a unique set-up for Canadian gymnasts to compete at home and showcase their talent."
Gymnastics Canada, established in 1969, is the national governing body for the sport of gymnastics in Canada. It works closely with the 12 provincial federations and 700 local clubs to provide a broad range of programs and services to meet the needs of all participants. From athlete development to coaching and judging education, Gymnastics Canada sets the operating standards and practices for the sport in Canada.
The Government of Canada is the single largest contributor to sport in Canada and supports participation and excellence from playground to podium. A contribution of $50,000 was provided to Gymnastics Canada through Sport Canada's Hosting Program. The Government of Canada also committed $2,600,000 in 2011-2012 to Gymnastics Canada through the Sport Support Program.
