Harry Kloosterhuis retiring as president & CEO of Family Insurance Solutions

VANCOUVER, March 6, 2014 /CNW/ - Economical Insurance, one of Canada's leading property and casualty insurance companies, today announced the retirement of Harry Kloosterhuis as president and chief executive officer of Vancouver-based Family Insurance Solutions Inc. effective June 30, 2014. Family is the largest provider of private optional auto insurance in British Columbia.

"We are pleased to offer Harry our best wishes after a remarkable 35-year career in the insurance industry," said Jorge Arruda, senior vice-president, sales, distribution and underwriting operations at Economical Insurance, Family's parent company. "He joined Economical Insurance in 1998 to launch and lead the broker acquisition division. In 2003, he joined Family as president and became chief executive officer in 2010. Under Harry's leadership, Family has grown profitably over the years, almost tripling its gross written premiums in 10 years.

"We thank Harry for his dedication and congratulate him on this milestone," added Arruda. "We wish him a long, healthy and prosperous retirement."

In September, Economical integrated the distribution, underwriting and policy administration of its personal insurance business in BC under Family. This eliminates duplication, increases efficiency and simplifies decision-making for brokers and policyholders in the province.
