VANCOUVER, July 18, 2013 /CNW/ - Hastings Racecourse and Slots in agreement with all three B.C. Racing Associations has announced the cancellation of the Saturday, July 20th card at Hastings Racecourse due to a flu-like virus that has affected a substantial number of horses. The Friday Night Live card (July 19, 7:00 p.m.) and Sunday's matinee card (July 21, 1:50 p.m.) will proceed as scheduled.
The flu-like virus has recently spread through the barn area at Hastings Racecourse and it continues to have a significant impact on the horse population. Horses affected are experiencing similar affects that people do when hit with the flu and thus racing and strenuous activities are out for those equine affected.
Hastings Racecourse apologizes to patrons for any inconvenience caused by these scheduling changes. The Saturday, July 20th lost day may possibly be made up during the balance of the 2013 meet.
