MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 28, 2017 /CNW/ - Hatch has announced that it will provide engineering and project delivery services in support of the Valorisation Carbone Québec project. The work is part of a collaborative agreement with CO2 Solutions Inc. (TSX-V: CST) that focuses on carbon capture and reuse systems in taking a stronger stance on battling climate change.
As part of the project, Hatch will assist CO2 Solutions in optimizing carbon capture and reuse technologies at their demonstration plant in Montréal, Québec. Once the new facility is established, Hatch and CO2 Solutions will participate in a scientific committee that includes Université Laval, Total S.A., and Polytechnique Montréal. Several promising conversion technologies will be selected to reuse the captured carbon and convert it to value-added products, such as biofuels.
As well as participating in the selection of the most promising conversion technologies, Hatch will apply its know-how, expertise, and experience to optimize them for large-scale industrial use, while looking for further potential applications of the technology in the extractive processing sectors globally.
"This initiative demonstrates how industry, universities and government can collaborate to drive positive change," says Dr. Santiago Faucher, Global Director, Technologies at Hatch. "We're proud to contribute to the general reduction of the world's gas emissions."
